Peggy`s Cove or bust!

Image
It was a decent weekend...the weather was good, albeit, unseasonly cool. Saturday was the usual club ride when a buddy, Donald, introduced us to his new Pinarello. OOOOOOOOO...a real pretty bike.....all Campy Chorus and as light as a feather. Sunday I caught a small group of 6 riders doing the Peggy`s Cove loop. It was a later day start at Noon so the tourist traffic was heavy and we faced head/cross winds for most of the ride. Notwithstanding we had a great ride...lots of fun but a real leg burner. I ended up with 94K with a 29kph average. Geo

Family, Aspotogan and ad hoc ITT.

The long weekend.......not too shabby! Got in a good club ride on Saturday, visited my sister(see pic...Cari and my daughter) and hubby down from Montreal at a family BBQ along with the rest of the clan. It was fun and good to see everyone. I know......I`m only an hour away and should get down more often. Sunday the club did the Aspotogan loop with a 9AM start from Tantallon.Due to my family commitments I needed to get home by 1PM and a delayed start and a couple unplanned stops meant I rode the last half of the ride(40K)solo in what amounted to an ad hoc time trial. Fitting, I suppose, since today was scheduled the cancelled 2UP time trial. I rode the first 20K with a slower rider but quickly jumped in with the fast boys at the first stop. Whew! It was race speed and certainly gave me a way of benchmarking my mid season form. The legs felt strong. Unfortunately I got caught behind a slower rider and lost touch with the group on a climb but decided to chase. I`d get close but then an

No 2UP so give me a double/double

Seems there were issues with the Department of Transportation and RCMP so Cyclesmith cancelled the 2UP time trial scheduled for holiday Monday. Drat! Got the aerobars zoned in last Sunday with a 40K practice ITT for naught. Oh well......looks like the Club will have a good turnout for a Peggy`s Cove ride in lieu of the 2UP. Should be fun...weather forecast is looking good. Pics; Me having a pre ride coffee, bike outfitted with aerobars.
