Welcome back C!

Used up my last POD day today to head to Chelsea and visit with my sister who is home visiting from Australia. Unfortunately the wires got crossed and she was expecting us next Wednesday and was away getting her hair colored when we arrived. No big deal....a quick visit with mother and Wilfie then my wife, daughter and I dropped in the hair salon to see C. Despite being covered in a cape and tinfoil it sure was good to see her again. Been quite awhile. Looks like we will be able to grab a couple hours this weekend so that will be nice. I often joke about the "Henley" black cloud that follows me around but the day only got worse. My car has the TPMS feature that will chime and flash an icon at you when tire pressure drops in one of four wheels. Sure enough it went off today on the highway. A quick inspection didn`t reveal an impending flat so I continued home to Halifax. A further check and addition of air to all tires in the driveway didn`t work...the stupid light and chime ...

Cyclesmith Cylocross Series - Fall 2009

I`ve been checking out the CS cross series at Seaview Park lookoff this month. Cross racing is pretty cool, a marriage between the fat and skinny tired cycling worlds. The nice thing about the series is the fact you can compete whether you have a MTB or cross bike so it is doable for most folk. The course is tweaked each week to give the riders something different and,in cross racing, the weather certainly plays a pivotal role. The wetter the better. As a spectator it is fun to watch with riders all along the short course cycling on everything from groomed trail, grass and mud. If it wasn`t for my Sunday afternoon ball hockey I figure I`d put down the camera and pick up the bike but alas.... Check out the pics(Picasa album)to the left. Enjoy!

First Of November! Monthly Update

In the survival of the fittest struggle of the personal media world it is finding Facebook a formidable opponent(wink). October has come and gone as the cycling season winds down although I ended the month on a high note with a nice balmy club ride on Halloween day. The last couple weeks I have found my comfort on the Giant road bike wanting. Last week the club ride was terrible with me doing minor adjustments on the ride which just resulted in more discomfort.I was not sure if it was my loss of bike fitness of if my bike fit needed some tweaking. Yesterday I took out my venerable Devinci and it was nice(like putting on your fav old sneakers)and translated to a much better effort.Since I could now determine it was not just my lack of bike fitness that determined my lousy cycling efforts of the last couple weeks and knew I needed to revisit my position on the Gian...
