Nebula Time Trial Bike - Complete.

Image
My winter project bike is now complete with the purchase of a FSA triathlon specific saddle and Vittoria Rubino Pro white striped tires.I spent the afternoon zooming in my "fit". I am still in need of a longer ride to determine the final comfort factor but it is,essentially, race ready. I am keeping an eye out for some Look Keo pedals but it`s low priority as I can swap out the ones on my road bike. Now I just need a time trial.....(wink). Geo

Bluenoses,Gold Medal Game and "Way To Go Adrien!"

The 2008 Bluenose marathon was this morning and, unlike previous versions, it had almost perfect weather. 8C with sun and cloudy periods. There were a couple rides planned this morning but I opted to cycle downtown and watch the race and grab some photos. There were some BPCC club members, Nubody`s associates and co workers running so I hoped to be able to pick them out of the throngs of runners and get some pictures. On Gottingen Street I managed to spot BPCCer Adrien(running the 10K race)after having descended from the bridge and managed to get several pics. Adrien running and me pedaling down the sidewalk snapping photos.......lol. Way to go Adrien! Nearing the finish she was running well, looking quite comfortable and even managed a smile when I snapped the photo.Good work!My apologies to any other folks I missed. I was wearing full BPCC kit hoping they would spot me first and did hear my name called a few times but there were just so many runners for me to find everyone. I gott

Spirit Of The Andes and thinking INSIDE the box....it`s Friday Night.

Back by popular demand(my delusions only?)is my Friday wine selection. Usually only a winter indulgence I have a 2007 Chilean Anakena Carmenere in the glass tonight. The weather forecast is looking like rain tomorrow so,being a fair weather cyclist,I figured a Friday night wine uncorking was in order. A grape varietal unique to Chile I was unfamiliar with the Carmenere "...is dark cherry red in color with blackberry notes, spices and chocolate aromas. Rich and fruity on the palate it has a velvety finish...." Make no doubt this is a strong, but nice, wine. My plebian palate finds it spicy, verging on peppery, with a distinct bouquet. Suitable for meats, pasta and cheeses as the wine will not be overwhelmed by whatever food choices are made. So.......here was my problem. I enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or with a meal. Problem is I hate opening a bottle and commence the onset of oxidation. I can put it fridge to delay the process but then it is not the optimal drinking

Decline and Fall of Nova Scotian Racing

Already dealing with a thin 2008 racing schedule it became worse this past week. The AMP road race scheduled for today was cancelled after the organizer and chief commissar were unable to reach a compromise regarding the number of officials and the demand for faster race results. Not privy to the details I am loathe to assign blame but the resulting resignation of two senior chief officials from BNS means the remaining three scheduled races may indeed face a lack of officiating. There remains one active official(to my knowledge)qualified to lead a commissaring team. Sure makes the $95 forked out for a race licence this past winter hard to swallow. Of the three remaining races one I cannot ride due to distance, one our club hosts may need volunteers to work so that leaves the Provincial race in Riverport. Factoring in my travel and registration expenses along with the license fee that makes for one expensive bike ride. It is early in the season so perhaps some races will get added as
