McWilliams Chardonnay, March Break, The 300 and Gap Tooth Grins.

Yup....you got it. Friday night means Geo`s wine selection of the week. A nice 2004 Aussie Chardonnay. The McWilliams has a "golden hue with melon and tropical fruit aromas....the use of oak has added complexity and subtle vanilla overtones ending with a long crisp finish."

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

So........my spouse and children are heading to New Hampshire on a March Break trip with a good friend and her kids. Looks like I will have a "domestic" vacation till Thursday of next week. Just me and the cat! Oh...the glorious solitude. Bring it on!

Aside from the hours spent in the gym with no pressure to be home I intend to check out a show. The "300" opens tonight about the Spartan resistance at Thermopylae in 480BC in response to Xerxes` Persian invasion of the Greek mainland. Other than the main actors the rest of the film was done by graphic artists. I hear the visuals are "stunning". For a history buff and comic affectionado it just doesn`t get any better.Isn`t that all we, as mortal creatures ask, but to die well?

So....until the family leaves on Sunday a father`s duties are never done. My daughter had the smile of a Star Trek Klingon with a tooth jutting onwards, and upon inspection, had the adult tooth coming in behind. Yup......with pleas of gentleness, lots of tears, stuffed bunnies, promises to Heaven and some good Spartan stoicism I managed to remove the offending baby tooth. Tears quickly subsided, blood clotted and more wine was drank. Reminded me of my(late)father who,on one occasion button holed me while I was on the toilet, to remove a tooth. Crikey......what Dad lacked in subtlety he may up for in effectiveness.

A quick shout out to my sis in Australia......check out their blog at.....

and Applegirl, patiently awaiting her new pup and Jim(Valleyguy), who dropped me an email tonight.

Have a great weekend all.

I laughed out loud when I read your post today! I had the same Dad memory when I was reading about you and Chels...Anyhoo, I'm going to look up that wine when I go for my next bottle. Enjoy your week and tell Monica and the kids to have fun, from me!
PS. thanks for the buckwheat pancake info and the blog plug;)
