In the mail today came an update from Foster Parents Plan about my foster child. Seems Djouwera(lives in Togo)has graduated from the sponsorship program having reached the age of 18. Wow! Where did the years go? I knew it was only a matter of time and I wish her, her family and village all the best. I hope I made some positive difference in their lives.The last picture I have of her(below) shows a smile that speaks volumes.

With any end comes a new beginning and I now have a new foster child. Her name is Mitu, she is 5 years old and lives in the urban sprawl that is(greater)Dhaka, Bangladesh.She has both parents and a younger brother. She is currently in good health and is attending preschool.

Such a pretty girl albeit with deep expressive eyes of sorrow. We`ll,hopefully, change that look to one of hope and happiness.

I have a little boy as my foster child. He is so cute. I am hoping that it will make a big difference in his life. He only has his grandma and she is too old to work. When you think that you might be able to change someones life for the better for only the cost of a pizza...well how can you not do it. It must make you feel really good to know that you helped put that smile on her face.

Happy Birthday to me! Needless to say I was gobsmacked when Canada Post dropped off a box this morning from Steve at Wheels Of Mass Destruction based out of Montreal Canada. Let the record show that Steve is my brother in law but I had no idea a set of (gorgeous) carbon fibre wheels were heading my way. Scythian Bow - Flagella Dei

After several years of interest I finally decided to purchase a Scythian style of horse bow from Flagella Dei Archery based in Hungary.    Opted for a yew laminated bow #42@28 so it was a custom build but worth the wait. Feather light and simply beautiful. Build quality is great and pictures just do not give justice to the eye candy quality of the lamination, tip reinforcements and quality leather handle wrap. Shipping was fast from Europe and bow was professionally boxed with bubble wrap and a nice bow sack. Included was a certificate of authentication complete with the bowyer's signature and warranty information. Needless to say I was anxious to get it outside and loose some arrows. The rain held off on Saturday so it was a perfect opportunity to get out under the green. I just love this bow.
